USDA supports many programs to strengthen America’s food systems, including through the Build Back Better Initiative, with a greater focus on more resilient local and regional food production, fairer markets for all producers, ensuring access to safe, healthy and nutritious food in all communities, building new markets and streams of income for farmers and producers using climate smart food and forestry practices, and making historic investments in infrastructure and clean energy capabilities in rural America. These and other priorities are highlighted in a document prepared for the UN Food Systems Summit and released on September 23, 2021, Pathways to More Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive U.S. Food Systems (PDF, 316 KB).
