Starting a new career, Cody Thibert moved his wife and their three children to a new community. Searching for a home in Valley City, North Dakota, Cody heard about USDA Rural Development through his father’s co-worker. He decided to inquire about the housing programs and found a fit with the USDA Single Family Home Loan program. The Thiberts were able to purchase a four bedroom, bi-level home with a low interest rate and an extended term loan.
The family of five has now been living in their home for about seven months. Among many improvements, they have given the basement a makeover and have built a new deck to enjoy their big backyard. The Thibert children are transitioning well to the neighborhood as they have made a lot of new friends.
To celebrate National Homeownership Month, the USDA Rural Development area office in Valley City presented an apple tree to the family. The Thibert’s daughter, Michaela, was very excited to plant the tree that she would watch grow and eventually produce apples to eat. After the tree was planted, Cody expressed his gratitude to the USDA staff and invited them back to visit anytime - and to check on the tree!
