As part of USDA’s commitment to outreach, Louisiana Rural Development State Director Clarence Hawkins and staff went “on the road” with the Louisiana Municipal Association in June and July to continue reaching out to municipal officials across the state. These meetings were hosted by LMA’s district vice presidents in Louisiana.
“With my emphasis on marketing and outreach, visibility is of utmost importance. Municipalities often depend on our services to improve the quality of life in their towns through our loan and grant programs”, said State Director Hawkins.
Ten stops were made across Louisiana. Over fifty parishes (counties) were represented at these meetings. Although these were LMA’s district meetings, it allowed State Director Hawkins the opportunity to introduce Rural Development’s Area Directors as the “face” of the agency in the parishes they serve.
Rural Development provided outreach, education and information to all the LMA officials, mayors, and invited guests. Questions were asked and answers provided on Rural Development programs and on-going projects and services. Rural Development continues to foster its relationship with the municipalities across Louisiana.
