Two community forums on jobs and economic growth are being held in Oregon as a follow up to President Obama’s December 3 White House briefings on job creation.
The forums are co-hosted by USDA Rural Development, and USDA Farm Service Agency. A wide array of representatives from local businesses, community-based organizations, economic development authorities, regional planning and development councils, educational institutions, labor organizations, healthcare providers, financial institutions, units of local, state and federal government, and the recreation and tourism industry are expected to participate.
"We are inviting business and labor leaders, but also the general public to share with us their good ideas about job creation and revitalizing the rural economy," said Vicki Walker, Rural Development’s Oregon State Director. Lynn Voigt, FSA’s State Executive Director in Oregon added, "Job developers and agency staff at the state and county levels have also provided input to our effort and it has been much appreciated."
Oregon events will be held Thursday, January 21 from 9:00 AM to Noon in Albany and Thursday, January 28 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM in Bend.
